The
Dhobighat is the world’s largest outdoor laundry
facility. Here 4,000 members of the dhobi cast work night
and day in order to guarantee an essential service to Mumbai’s
15 million inhabitants - clean laundry. It’s extremely
hard work and it is done by members of a lowly immigrant
class. Most dhobis or washermen, are illiterate, but they
are highly organized and efficient. See another side of
