Between the Lines

Between the Lines
1 X 50:00

On November 4th, 1980, an East German border soldier named Egon Bunge escaped into West Berlin by shooting his comrade and official gate partner at the Berlin Wall. Was it murder or an act of self-defense? Filmmaker Dirk Simon, follows Bunge's trail into West Germany, poignantly portraying the stories of two men; Steinhauer, whose life was cut short, and Bunge, whose remaining years were filled with the horrid guilt of both killer and survivor of a brutal political regime.

(The 45th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin wall is August 13, 2006).
