When
Eero Saarinen designed the TWA Terminal at JFK Airport,
he created an uncompromising structure, uniquely responsive
to the human experience of travel. It was the first place
many people entered or departed the US for almost 40
years. Built during the transition from propeller to
jet aircraft, the iconic terminal was vacated in 2001.
A centerpiece of international travel, it now stands
vacant having hosted a brief controversial art exhibition.
Terminal 5 braids the history of this familiar structure
with the ambitious but failed art exhibition. |
